Traceability is the ability to trace and track each unit through each stage of production, processing and distribution.
In Electrowinning plants, the units to be followed are both the permanant cathode (blank) and the copper cathode.
Tracing refers to the capacity to identify the origin of a particular unit or a batch of units, within the electrowinning process.
Tracking is undestood as the ability to know the route of the blanks and/or the copper cathodes along the process.
Traceability allows for a better understanding of the productive process through the capture of information from from several points toward a central on-line information system. Its main objective is to allow for the process variables to be controlled in order to make opportune desicions that permit reducing production costs, increasing productivity.
